Serpent's Skull in Eberron
That's A Paddlin'
Far, the 6th of Aryth
During second watch, Pol spies four shapes slinking through the grass near the shore. Before he can wake more than Nkechi, who is sharing his canoe, arrows begin flying. Nkechi is pin-cushioned by several arrows and slumps to the bottom of the canoe before he can even say a word. Chydak lobs two bombs at the hidden attackers but the early morning spoils his aim. Pol and Joffa use their range attacks to fight the partially hidden foes; Pol expertly throwing his mind blades and Joffa launching his Eldritch Blasts. Kreshton dives into the water but gets tangled between the boats and submerged flotsam. As the battle continues, Dadak tends to the wounded Nketchi. By the time Kreshton makes it to shore, three catfolk bodies lay on the ground while a fourth catfolk runs off through the forest. Joffa and Kreshton examine the bodies, and Joffa, who knows more about catfolk than Kreshton deflects his inquiries about them.
Back into the canoes, the party paddles off. At dawn, they find a clear area on the southern shore of the river and use the canoes as barriers around a makeshift camp. They rest until near to nightfall and continue paddling upriver.
